Gender Affirming Top Surgery Sessions are customized to each unique individual and may include connective tissue, neuromuscular, cupping, and craniosacral techniques. We aim to create a space for collaborative learning where your insights and autonomy are valued. Together, we can address any chronic holding patterns, movement and breathing restrictions, and post-op scar tissue while deepening body awareness and your personal connection to your body. For the purposes of increasing range of motion, it is best to wait six weeks after surgery to receive manual therapy. However, light-touch craniosacral techniques can be used more immediately for nervous system regulation and relaxation. There’s no strict time frame for experiencing the multidimensional healing bodywork offers, we welcome you at any point in your journey. We are committed to on-going learning, research, and gathering resources to expand what we can provide to the queer and trans community.
Auto-Immune and Chronic Illness Every single person living with chronic illness have their own special recipe of needs, we recognize this and support as best we can. This can mean lots of bolstering and padding, trying different types of emollients based on feel or allergies, body temperature, and the amount and type of pressure applied. Our goal is to help support your body to live flare free. You can receive a massage during a flare, however, if your flare includes a fever or any type of systemic infection, we ask that you wait until that resolves.

Prenatal Massage Pregnancy is a beautiful time in a persons life, but it can also be very difficult and quite uncomfortable for some. Massage can help ease the aches and pains of pregnancy throughout the entire 40+ weeks. When appropriate, we use the full body pregnancy cushions that allow you to lay face down for the treatment. This is not only a nice break from all the side-lying you’re doing, but also allows us to work more effectively on the back and hips which are often a huge source of discomfort.
Modalities
Therapeutic Massage aka "Deep Tissue Massage" The art of "deep tissue" isn't just about the amount of pressure a massage therapist applies to the tissue, "deep tissue" is accessing the deeper layers of muscle, fascia, and soft tissue to release pain and tension, to restore mobility and function. We do not believe that massage should be painful, and we do not apply extreme levels of pressure, you should never be sore or bruised after a session with us. We work with the nervous system and slowly release the tension layer by layer. This can take time and not always achieved in one session. There is a level of therapeutic discomfort one can expect, but if it goes beyond that, we can actually do damage and negate the entire process of trying to help release the stuck tissue. We have found that being able to release the deeper layers can help create dramatic changes to achieve the goals set that day.
Cupping Massage The amount of profound work that can be achieved with a little suction cup is mind blowing! Yes, cupping can leave round red or purple marks on your body, these are not bruises, a bruise is an injury, it can be painful and inflamed. A cupping mark is stagnated blood, lymph, and other fluids that have been pulled to the surface. The negative pressure achieved with suction, lifts and separates the individual muscle fibers and fascia and can achieve superior results, especially for those areas of chronic pain and tension like the upper back. It's our go to for self care as well! We often incorporate cupping into every session, but you an always request that it be added, we do not charge extra for cupping.
Intra-Oral Massage Intra-oral (inside the mouth) massage is often used to help those dealing with chronic TMJD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction) and headaches. This can be very beneficial to folks who work long hours behind a computer, driving, high stress jobs or life, or may clinch or grind their teeth. This type of bodywork can be incredibly powerful and can be incorporated into a session. This is the only “add-on” that we charge extra for because we need to add 15 minutes onto your session. It includes a full face and scalp massage. Practitioners always wear non latex gloves for this type of work.
Cranio-Sacral Biodynamic craniosacral work, as taught by Tucson’s Heidi Wilson, is an intentional practice of inviting space for stillness through connecting to the rhythms of cerebrospinal fluid. Prolonged holds using light touch induce a fluid, dream-like state allowing a deep settling of the nervous system. Following or preceding manual therapies with the goal of facilitating change, this state allows the body to simply be.
